Michelle Scribner is a seasoned bioinformatics professional with a strong background in public health and microbiology. Currently serving as the Public Health Team Lead and Bioinformatics Scientist at Theiagen Genomics since May 2022, Michelle has previously worked as a COVID-19 Genomic Data Specialist at APHL, where genome assembly and variant calling pipelines for SARS-CoV-2 were implemented. During a doctoral research tenure at the University of Pittsburgh from August 2016 to March 2022, Michelle investigated antimicrobial resistance through whole genome sequencing of various pathogens. Early career experiences include roles as a bank teller and undergraduate researcher, with notable summer research at the Cancer Research UK Beatson Institute. Michelle holds a PhD in Microbiology and Immunology from the University of Pittsburgh and a BS in Biology from Alma College.
