Girard Petula, Ed.D., joined The Wright Center for Patient and Community Engagement Board in 2022, bringing his perspective as both a patient from a rural community as well as a longtime educator with a rich background of teaching, managerial and executive experience. Dr. Petula served in the education field for 38 years, retiring as director of employability/career services with the Management & Training Corporationās Red Rock High School in Lopez. Previously, he had held administrative positions at St. Michaelās School, Tunkhannock, and various posts of increasing responsibility at the Delaware Valley School District and the Montrose School District.
A resident of Wyoming County, Dr. Petula contributes to his community as a longtime member of the Factoryville Zoning Board. He also is a member of the Abington Community Library and the nonprofit Countryside Conservancy, a land trust committed to protecting greenspace in the Tunkhannock Creek watershed. His prior volunteer experience includes a stint as director of Hour Place Child Development Center, in Clarks Summit, and serving as a park naturalist at Lackawanna State Park.
