Dan Dixon is an accomplished academic and leader in cancer research and community engagement, currently serving as the Associate Director of Community Outreach and Engagement at The Winthrop P. Rockefeller Cancer Institute at UAMS and as a Professor at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, both since October 2024. Previously, Dan held multiple roles at The University of Kansas, including Professor and Co-Leader of various cancer programs from January 2018 to October 2024. Prior to that, Dan contributed as an Associate Professor at the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of South Carolina from 2004 to 2018. Dan's career began as a Research Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center from 2001 to 2004. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. from Northwestern University, a postdoctoral fellowship in Human Molecular Biology & Genetics from the University of Utah, and a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Chemistry from Augustana University.
