Marcela Escobari currently serves as the Coordinator for the LA Declaration on Migration and Protection and Special Assistant to the President at The White House since April 2024. Prior to this role, Escobari was the Assistant Administrator for USAID's Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean from January 2022 to April 2024, where Marcela led initiatives to address the displacement of millions in the region. Escobari has held significant positions such as Senior Fellow at the Brookings Institution, Senior Advisor at Mastercard, and Executive Director at the Harvard Center for International Development. Additionally, Escobari has experience as Director at OTF Group and as an analyst at JP Morgan. Escobari holds a Master of Public Policy in International Development from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelorās degree in Economics from Swarthmore College.
