Steve Threlkeld

Stephen (Steve) Threlkeld is a native Memphian and a 3rd- generation physician in the community. He is a 1982 graduate of Memphis University School and a 1986 graduate of Rhodes College. From there he entered medical school at the University of Alabama (UAB), after which he went on to an internal medicine residency at UAB. After serving as a chief medical resident for an additional year, he completed his infectious disease fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and served as an instructor at Harvard Medical School.

Since 1997, he has been in infectious disease clinical practice with his brother, Dr. Michael Threlkeld, and Dr. Imad Omer. He is currently the medical director of Infectious Diseases for the Baptist Hospital system and a past president of the medical staff, as well as on the medical staff of Methodist Hospital. He serves on the American Board of Internal Medicine education committee that oversees the creation of the infectious disease board certification exam.
