Hal Varian is a prominent economist currently serving as Chief Economist at Google, a position held since 2002. Prior to their role at Google, Varian was the Dean at UC Berkeley from 1995 to 2007 and a Professor of Economics at the University of Michigan from 1977 to 1995. Varian's academic qualifications include a PhD in Economics from UC Berkeley, earned between 1969 and 1973, and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, completed from 1965 to 1969.
