Brent Winkelman serves as Chief of Staff for the University of Texas at Austin's Computer Science department since August 2012, overseeing resourcing, staffing, and the execution of strategic priorities. Previously, Brent held the position of Managing Director at the National AI Institute for Foundations of Machine Learning, focusing on foundational machine learning to influence practical AI system design. Additionally, Brent has experience in external affairs, having served as both Director and Associate Director for the Department of Computer Science, and conducted major gifts fundraising as Assistant Director of Development at the McCombs School of Business. Brent's academic credentials include a Master of Arts from the University of Texas at Austin and a Bachelor of Arts from Texas A&M University.
