Janella Hinds is a seasoned educator and labor leader with extensive experience in various educational and organizational roles. Since February 2013, Janella has served as an at-large board member on the NYSUT Board of Directors, representing the interests of New York State’s educators. Janella has held the position of Vice President at the United Federation Of Teachers since August 2006, focusing on academic high schools, and serves as a Special Representative with the NYC Department of Education while teaching elective courses at the High School for Public Service: Heroes of Tomorrow. Additionally, Janella is the Secretary-Treasurer of the New York City Central Labor Council, AFL-CIO, and previously held the role of Public Policy Director for the New York State AFL-CIO. Janella’s background includes significant teaching experience in social studies and special education, alongside leadership positions in mediation and grievance resolution. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Princeton University and a Master's degree in Education from New York University.
