Nita Gombakomba is currently serving as a Urology Resident at SUNY Downstate Medical Center since July 2023. With leadership experience, Nita held the position of Immediate Past President, National President, and National President-Elect of the Student National Medical Association from May 2021 to the present. Additionally, Nita served as a Student Trustee for the National Medical Association from May 2021 to August 2023. Nita earned a Doctor of Medicine degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine in May 2023 and an MBA from Loyola University Maryland Sellinger School of Business and Management in September 2022. Prior experience includes roles as a Research Assistant at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences and various positions in academic and healthcare settings, including internships at the University of Virginia and the National Institutes of Health. Nita completed a Bachelor's Degree in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at the University of Lynchburg and an A.S. in Life Science from Montgomery College, having graduated from Marlborough High School in Harare, Zimbabwe.
