Mathew Skyner has a strong background in strength and conditioning coaching, with experience in various sports and organizations. Mathew started their career as a Strength and Conditioning Coach at North Carolina Wesleyan University, where they provided physical preparation and performance enhancement to over 100 athletes across different sports. After this, they worked as a Data Analyst with the Scottish FA, focusing on data analysis for international qualifying matches. Mathew then served as a Performance Consultant for Boroughmuir Rugby & Community Sports Club, analyzing current practices and implementing load monitoring techniques and recovery strategies for the athletes. Following this, they held the role of Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at Old Glory DC Rugby, where they worked to support the team's conditioning needs. Most recently, they joined The St. James as a Strength and Conditioning Coach, where they continue to apply their expertise in this field.
Mathew Skyner completed their Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology and Exercise Science from North Carolina Wesleyan University between 2015 and 2019. Following this, they pursued a Master of Science - MS degree in Sports Performance of Enhancement at Edinburgh Napier University from 2019 to 2020. In addition to their academic achievements, Mathew obtained certifications in CPR/AED/First Aid from the American Red Cross in December 2021, as well as certifications as a Certified Sports Nutrition Coach from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) in September 2022, and as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) in October 2022.
