Joel Laakso is a distinguished cellist and artistic director with extensive experience in the field of music. Since August 2013, Laakso has served as the 1.Principal Cellist in Det Kongelige Kapel at Det Kongelige Teater. Previously, Laakso was the Artistic Director for Riihimäki Summer Concerts from 2014 to 2017 and played as a cellist in the New Helsinki Quartet from 2000 to 2014. Additionally, Laakso was part of the Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra from August 2008 to June 2013. Laakso's educational background includes studies at Sibelius-Akatemia from 1997 to 2007 and the Edsberg School of Chamber Music from 2000 to 2001, complemented by earlier education at various institutions, culminating in a high school degree from Sibelius-Lukio.
