Crystal Borde is the Director at The Public Relations Society of America-National Capital Chapter. Crystal has over 15 years of experience in communications and has held various positions at Vanguard Communications, including Vice President and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Practice Lead, Director, Diversity + Inclusion Practice Lead, Associate Director, Senior Account Supervisor, Account Supervisor, Senior Account Manager, and Account Manager.

Crystal has extensive experience in developing thought leadership, providing DEI communications counsel to clients, and developing professional development opportunities for Vanguard staff regarding DEI. Crystal also has experience in managing projects, applying a DEI lens to their strategic communications counsel and campaign planning for government agencies, nonprofits, foundations, and associations addressing social issues such as racial justice, mental health, substance use, and health equity.

In their previous role as Policy Communications Services Group Leader, they led a successful integrated media campaign resulting in national, state and local media coverage in print, broadcast, and online outlets for the Galvin Electricity Initiative, Perfect Power Institute, SAMHSA’s National Children’s Mental Health Awareness Day and Voice Awards events, Campaign for High School Equity, American Academy of Physician Assistants, and National Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare.

Crystal has a proven track record in developing integrated media outreach plans and conducting brand identity research. Crystal is skilled in writing audience-specific, culturally- and linguistically-competent materials to support national and local media outreach efforts and grassroots campaigns. Crystal is also experienced in pitching national and local media and legislators’ staff members to support client’s media and policy communications efforts.

Crystal Borde has a communications degree from California State University, Fullerton with an emphasis in public relations. Crystal also has an Associate's of Arts from Mt. San Antonio College in Liberal Studies with an emphasis on Communications. Crystal has a certificate in "Using Our Voices To Lead Change: A Webinar Series" from the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) and a certificate in "Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in the Workplace" from USF Corporate Training and Professional Education.
