Karen Barnes is an accomplished leader with extensive experience in economic development, innovation, and entrepreneurship. Currently serving as Program Director IV at the Wake Forest Institute for Regenerative Medicine, Karen focuses on enhancing the regional regenerative medicine innovation ecosystem. As a Board Member for the Piedmont Triad Regional Workforce Development Board and AeroX Ventures, Karen contributes to developing economic strategies and advancing aviation technology initiatives. Previous roles include Chief Executive Officer at Agile City Winston-Salem, Executive Director at Venture Cafe Winston-Salem, and co-founder of ACCESS Center for Equity + Success. With educational credentials that include certifications in economic and entrepreneurial development from the International Economic Development Council and a Master's degree from American University, Karen demonstrates a strong commitment to fostering growth and equity in the business landscape.
