Since January 1994, Boelhouwer has held multiple roles at the Sociaal en Cultureel Planbureau, focusing on broad prosperity and societal outcomes. Current responsibilities include serving as the Programmaleider Brede Welvaart and conducting research on quality of life and happiness, contributing to publications like "Sociale Staat van Nederland." Additionally, Boelhouwer is a member of various advisory committees and boards, including the RIVM's National Prevention Agreement and the Utrecht University's 10 Years Up research initiative. Educational qualifications include a PhD from Utrecht University and a Master's in political sciences from the University of Amsterdam.
