Jan Macek has a diverse work experience spanning multiple companies and roles. In 1995, they worked as a Trainee in Business Administration at Ostfriesische Tee-Geselschaft. Jan then joined ABB as a Research and Development Engineer in 2000. In 2004, they took on the role of Visiting Researcher at IBM, Centre for Adv. Studies, Dublin Software Lab, and also worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at University College Dublin. In 2007, Jan Macek joined Clearstream Banking as a Software Engineer. Jan then joined IBM in 2008 and held various positions including Research Scientist in Speech Recognition, Research Scientist and Project Manager in Dialog systems, and finally Development Manager for IBM Watson. In 2021, Jan Macek became the Co-founder & Co-CEO at The MAMA AI, and later joined TELMA AI as the Director Of Services.
Jan Macek began their education at Czech Technical University in Prague in 1995, where they pursued a Master of Engineering (MEng) in Technical Cybernetics. Jan completed this degree in 2001, specializing in Bioinformatics. During the same period, Jan also pursued a PhD in Artificial Intelligence & Biocybernetics at Czech Technical University in Prague, which they completed in 2004.
In 2001, Jan briefly attended Milwaukee School of Engineering, but it is unclear if they obtained a degree or studied a specific field during this time.
In 2016, Jan obtained the certification of CEE Regional Technical Exchange Speaker (Level I) from IBM.
