Strategic Litigation Attorney at The Legal Aid Society

Rigodis Appling is a Strategic Litigation Attorney at The Legal Aid Society, specializing in complex civil litigation that addresses systemic inequalities since October 2005. Responsibilities include researching and drafting legal memoranda on civil rights and criminal law, drafting complaints and motions, taking and defending depositions, and conducting settlement negotiations. Rigodis also serves as a Legal Analyst at Law & Crime since 2021 and previously held roles as a Criminal Defense Attorney, representing clients in misdemeanor and felony cases, and as a researcher at the American Civil Liberties Union. Educational qualifications include a JD from New York Law School and a BA in Black Studies and History from UC Santa Barbara. Additionally, Rigodis is pursuing further studies in History at Delhi University.
