Daniel Wetzel currently serves as the Head of the Tracking Sustainable Transitions Unit and Senior Energy Analyst at the International Energy Agency (IEA) since February 2020. Previously, Daniel managed the Power Sector work in China at the Rocky Mountain Institute from September 2013 to February 2020, providing analytical support to the National Energy Administration and conducting research on regulatory impacts. Daniel also contributed to low-carbon energy initiatives as a Senior Associate and Associate at Rocky Mountain Institute, focusing on sustainability strategies and solar cost analysis. Earlier career experiences include roles at Reckitt Benckiser, where Daniel was involved in innovation projects, and internships at Reckitt Benckiser and RTI Biologics. Daniel holds a Master of Science in Energy Science, Technology, and Policy and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University.
