Francisco Souza is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in environmental science, conservation, and indigenous affairs. Currently serving as a Governing Board Member at The Integrity Council for the Voluntary Carbon Market since April 2022, Francisco oversees governance compliance and strategic direction. Previously, as Managing Director of the FSC Indigenous Foundation and a member of the IPLC Advisor Panel for Emergent, Francisco has provided crucial guidance on indigenous issues related to significant environmental initiatives. With a notable career spanning roles at the Forest Stewardship Council International, Hivos, WWF, and the Universidade Federal do Acre, along with a strong academic background including a Ph.D. in Environmental Science from Indiana University Bloomington, Francisco combines practical expertise with an academic foundation to advocate for sustainable practices and the rights of indigenous communities.
