V.S. Sambandan is Chief Administrative Officer, The Hindu Centre for Politics and Public Policy.
He holds a PhD degree in Economics from the University of Madras, India, and an MBA degree from Bournemouth University, UK. During his journalism career he has reported and written extensively on economics and social issues and served as The Hindu's foreign correspondent in Sri Lanka for six years during the Sri Lankan separatist conflict.
Highlights of his journalism career include interviews with scholars and heads of state such as the author of The Clash of Civilisations, Samuel Huntington, noted economist, Jeffrey Sachs, the former Presidents of Sri Lanka, Chandrika Kumaratunga, and Mahinda Rajapaksa, and the former President of the Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom.
His areas of interests include economic and social policy, politics and political communication, and political economy. He is a Member of the Board of Studies for Economics, University of Madras, and Member of the Academic Council, Dwaraka Doss Goverdhan Doss Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai.
