Sherrie Rudick has over 30 years of experience as an early childhood, Head Start, and home visiting subject matter expert. She has direct operational experience working with a large migrant and seasonal Head Start grantee. In addition, she worked as a senior training and technical assistance specialist at the National Center of Program Management and Fiscal Operations where she co-authored significant publications and provided training on program management for Head Start, Early Head Start, and Head Start child care partnerships. She was the project lead and lead developer for Data in Head Start and Early Head Start, and Self-Assessment: Your Annual Journey, two interactive, self-directed online training programs for Head Staff. In addition to her expertise in program management, she has a strong background in early childhood education. She is co-author of The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers, and Twos, the most widely used curriculum in Early Head Start, and The Creative Curriculum for Family Child Care. She is currently working as a product developer at Education Development Center (EDC) on the technical assistance centers for the federal home visiting program and the national center on health, behavioral health, and safety.
She has experienced the world of early childhood education from many perspectives, beginning as a teacher, child care center director, and state licensing specialist. She gained national perspective working for Child Development Services for the Department of the Army, learned about Head Start during her years with ECMHSP and the American Institutes for Research (AIR). She continued to hone her writing, instructional design, and training skills during her years with Teaching Strategies. At Teaching Strategies, ECMHSP, and AIR, she helped conceptualize, develop, and implement multi-day training institutes for leaders, managers, and direct services staff. She was also the project lead and lead author of Teaching Strategies āeCDA program,ā an innovative high tech, high-touch approach to meeting the educational requirements for the CDA Credential. At ZERO TO THREE, she was program manager on the Early Head Start for Family Child Care project, an ARRA-funded project overseen by the Office of Head Start and the Office of Child Care.
