Gloria Fernandes currently serves as an Assistant Director in the First Nations Health Division of the Australian Government Department of Health and Aged Care, a position held since May 2024. Additionally, Fernandes has been a Senior Legal Officer at the Attorney-General's Department since January 2023 and previously managed Metropolitan Aboriginal Youth and Family Services at the Department of Human Services SA from January 2021 to January 2023. Experience also includes roles at SA Health, Northern Adelaide Local Health Network, and the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation, where positions ranged from Principal Advisor to Policy Advisor. Early in the career at the Australian Customs and Border Protection Service, Fernandes progressed through various roles, including Program Support Officer and Policy Officer. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Laws and a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Adelaide, along with a Graduate Diploma of Legal Practice from the Law Society of South Australia.
