Kristen Toland writes an online column for Examiner.com on pets and animal care, as well as writing and editing for several other sites. She previously worked for the Philadelphia Inquirer and was a staff member of the Political and Civil Rights Law Journal at Temple University School of Law. Toland's professional experience includes being on the staff of a member of the House of Representatives and working as an assistant defender for the Defender Association of Philadelphia. Toland has volunteered for organizations with causes that include animal rights and rescue, homelessness and AIDS. She holds a J.D. from Temple University School of Law and a B.A. in political science with a Spanish minor from Villanova University.
