Thomas S. Lyons is the current Director at The Company Lab. Prior to their current position, they were a Professor of Agricultural, Food and Resource Economics and the Director of MSU Product Center Food-Ag-Bio at Michigan State University from August 2016 to July 2019. Thomas has also been the Lawrence N. Field Family Chair in Entrepreneurship at Baruch College, CUNY from January 2006 to August 2016, where they taught courses in business entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship/social venture accelerator, and entrepreneurship & community development. Additionally, they were the Fifth Third Bank Professor of Community Development at the University of Louisville from January 1994 to December 2006. Throughout their career, Thomas has been dedicated to research in the fields of entrepreneurship & community economic development, member of Baruch College Global Entrepreneurship Monitor (GEM) team, regional food networks, and entrepreneurship skills. Thomas has also mentored doctoral students and been responsible for entrepreneur/business development, product innovation, and research activities.
Thomas S. Lyons received their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Urban & Regional Planning from the University of Michigan, their Master of Arts (M.A.) in Urban Studies/Affairs from Loyola University Chicago, and their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Theirtory/Political Science from Butler University.
