Angela Hilt was named executive vice president and chief legal officer of The Clorox Company in October 2022. In this role, she oversees worldwide legal, ethics and compliance, corporate secretary, and internal audit matters. At that time, she also became a member of the Clorox Executive Committee.
During 15 years with the company, Hilt has served in various positions of increasing responsibility. Prior to her current role, she was vice president, corporate secretary and associate general counsel. Her responsibilities involved leading corporate legal matters, including mergers and acquisitions, securities law, corporate finance, executive compensation, and real estate. As corporate secretary, she worked closely with the company’s board of directors and executive committee on corporate governance matters and led the company’s stockholder engagement program. Additionally, she had oversight for the company’s international legal matters, including global litigation and arbitration, serving on the International Leadership Team. She also served on the company’s Legal Leadership Team, providing strategy, financial management and people oversight of the department as well as overseeing the company’s legal operations group. In previous roles, she was a member of the Cleaning Division Leadership Team, overseeing legal matters for the Home Care and Laundry businesses, and of the Specialty Division Leadership Team, overseeing legal matters for the Kingsford, Brita, Burt’s Bees, Hidden Valley Ranch, Glad and Fresh Step businesses.
Before joining Clorox, Hilt practiced corporate law at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP and at Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison LLP in San Francisco.
She is a past president of the Northern California Chapter of the Society of Corporate Secretaries and serves on the board of directors of the Society for Corporate Governance.
Hilt holds a law degree from the University of Michigan Law School and a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics from Stanford University.
