Sam Sklar is a dedicated sports journalist currently serving as the Mississippi State beat reporter for The Clarion-Ledger since September 2024. Previously, Sam worked as the Southern Miss beat reporter for Hattiesburg American, where notable coverage included breaking news of a football coach's wrongful $30,000 bonus and leading the story of a shot and killed Southern Miss football player. Additional experience includes serving as a sports intern for Sun Sentinel Media Group, where reporting focused on the 2023 Stanley Cup Final and Lionel Messi's move to Inter Miami. Sam's previous roles encompass freelance writing for The Detroit News, senior reporting for Michigan State hockey at The State News, and intern positions at CBS Sports and Best Version Media. Sam holds a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Michigan State University, attained in May 2023.
