Jon Murad currently serves as the Chief of Police for the City of Burlington, Vermont, a position held since June 2020. Prior to this role, Murad served as the Acting Chief of Police and Deputy Chief of Operations at the Burlington Police Department from October 2018 to June 2023, focusing on crime prevention and community collaboration. Between November 2016 and October 2018, Murad was a Managing Director at Teneo Holdings, working closely with Executive Chairman William J. Bratton. An extensive career with the NYPD spanned from January 2005 to November 2016, where Murad advanced from Police Officer to Assistant Commissioner, assisting in strategy and communications. Early in the career included an editorial assistant role at Newsweek during the 2004 elections. Educational credentials include a Master of Public Administration from Harvard Kennedy School and a Bachelor of Arts in English & American Literature from Harvard University.
