Overview:
The Carey School, a Preschool to 5th grade independent school in San Mateo, California, is seeking an Auxiliary Programs Assistant Director to support our auxiliary programs. The Auxiliary Programs Assistant Director is responsible for assisting in the overall management and supervision of the after-school and summer programs. This role involves supporting the Auxiliary Programs Director (APD) in planning, coordinating, and implementing activities, overseeing staff performance and student well-being, and fostering a positive program culture. The Auxiliary Programs Assistant Director plays a key role in managing operations and enhancing the experience for all participants.
Responsibilities:
The Auxiliary Programs Assistant Director is accountable to the Auxiliary Programs Director and assumes all responsibilities as assigned. These responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Operations Management
Manage the day-to-day operations of school year and summer auxiliary programs.
Schedule staff shifts and daily activities to ensure smooth operation.
Manage supply and snack inventory, ensuring materials and resources are adequately stocked.
Ensure that closing duties are completed, and all spaces are left tidy and organized.
Collaborate with the APD to communicate program policies and updates to the school community.
Address and resolve student injuries, incidents, and conflicts promptly and effectively.
Encourage and model positive and respectful interactions among students and staff.
Maintain precise attendance records to ensure student safety and accurate billing.
Program Development and Evaluation
Assist in creating and executing daily schedules and activities for year-round auxiliary programs
Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness, making adjustments as necessary to improve the student experience.
Plan and lead special events, ceremonies, and traditions that enhance program culture and quality.
Staff Supervision and Development
Support and observe staff, providing ongoing mentorship and performance feedback.
Maintain clear and consistent communication with staff regarding schedules, responsibilities, and expectations.
Additional Support Responsibilities
Support the school with occasional classroom subbing, and lunch / recess duties as assigned.
Support the art teacher in the classroom two afternoons per week.
Qualifications:
Minimum three years of experience with elementary-aged children, preferably in camp or extended care setting.
Early Childhood Education/Child Development units are strongly preferred.
Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.
Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Additional Information:
Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round
Hours: 40 hours per week; 10am-6pm
Pay Range: $31-36 hourly, non-exempt position
