Jay Leamy

Jay Leamy is a deputy chief probation officer in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Jay has been a juvenile probation officer for more than 25 years, at first supervising diverse populations and then transitioning into specialized positions of aftercare and intensive supervision and managing people convicted of sex offenses. While managing a caseload, he was also responsible for supervising community-based probation officers and specialized probation officers, and for overseeing the management of people in residential settings as well as fiscal matters related to community-based and residential-based services. In his current role as a deputy chief probation officer, Jay directly supervises specialized probation officers, oversees court operations and internal family counseling services, manages intake processes, and monitors departmental quality assurance operations. Since 2006, Jay has taught a variety of undergraduate courses in the Anthropology and Sociology Department and in the Criminal Justice Department at West Chester University, as well as in the master of science program, Administration of Juvenile Justice, at Shippensburg University. Jay earned a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice from West Chester University and a master’s degree in sociology, with a concentration in criminology, from Saint Joseph’s University. He is currently a doctoral student at Alvernia University, pursuing a PhD in philosophy of leadership. Jay joined Carey Group’s training team in 2015.
