Beate Knight has extensive work experience in research development and project management. Beate is currently the Head of Programmes at The Association of Commonwealth Universities since 2021. Prior to this, Beate worked at the University of Essex from 2007 to 2021, holding several roles including Research Development Manager EU and International, Catalyst Senior Project Manager, Research Development Manager, and Project Manager. Beate also worked at the University of York as an Information and Funding Officer from 2006 to 2007 and at the University of Sheffield as a Postdoctoral Research Associate from 2004 to 2006. Beate began their career as a Research Associate at UC Irvine from 1999 to 2004, conducting research on stem cells in the development of primitive animals.
Beate Knight has a strong education history in the field of biology. Beate started their academic journey at Friedrich Schiller University Jena in 1993 and completed their Master of Science (MS) and Diplom degrees in Biology/Biological Sciences in 1999. Later, they pursued their doctoral studies at Kiel University and obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Cell/Cellular and Molecular Biology in 2003. Additionally, Beate Knight also completed another PhD program in Cell Biology at Christian Albrechts Universitaet zu Kiel from 2001 to 2003.
In terms of certifications, they obtained the Management Essentials certification from the Institute of Leadership and Management in January 2017. Beate also holds the APMP Project Management Qualification (IPMA Level D, SCQF Level 7) from the Association of Project Managers, obtained in December 2015.
