Eileen Pennington has extensive experience in gender equality and women’s empowerment, currently serving as Senior Gender Advisor and Acting Director of the Women’s Empowerment Program at The Asia Foundation since 2003. Previous roles include Associate Director, Senior Advisor, and Assistant Director within the organization's Women's Empowerment Program. Prior to this, Eileen held positions at the U.S. Department of Labor as an International Relations Officer and International Program Analyst, and served as Field Coordinator for the Empowering Neighborhood People Program. Eileen began a career with the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program as a Prefectural Conference Coordinator and Assistant Language Teacher. Eileen's academic background includes a Doctoral candidacy at Georgetown University, a Master’s Degree in Social Change and Development and International Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies and Communication Studies from Virginia Tech.
