Nadia Swanson, LCSW, currently serves as the Director of Technical Assistance and Advocacy at The Ali Forney Center, a position held since June 2020. Swanson has a robust background in social work and education, having been an Adjunct Professor at the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter from January 2020 to January 2024 and a Psychotherapist at Callen-Lorde Community Health Center from February 2020 to December 2022. Previous roles include Social Worker for the National Student Council at GLSEN, Advisory Council member at the Arab-American Family Support Center, and Therapist at The Institute for Human Identity, Inc. Swanson's earlier experience includes Director of Training and Capacity Building for the Gender & Family Project at the Ackerman Institute for the Family, as well as various positions at The Ali Forney Center, including Coordinator of Training and Advocacy. Swanson began a career in social work as a Foster Care Case Planner at SCO Family of Services. Educational qualifications include a Master’s degree in Social Work focusing on International Social Work from Rutgers University and a Bachelor’s degree in Dance and Anthropology from Hofstra University.
