Alan Sill is the Managing Director at Texas Tech University, overseeing the High Performance Computer Center (HPCC) and providing expert advice on scientific computing and high-performance computing to university leadership. With extensive experience in high energy particle physics, Alan has held multiple key roles including Senior Director and Site Director, contributing significantly to various research initiatives, including the Compact Muon Solenoid experiment at CERN and the development of advanced data-intensive cloud computing standards. Alan has also been involved with the Open Grid Forum as President and Vice President of Standards, guiding standards development in distributed computing. Additionally, Alan has served as a Visiting Professor at the University of Derby and engaged with numerous significant research projects throughout a distinguished academic career. Alan holds a Ph.D. in Physics from American University and a B.Sc. in Physics and Mathematics from Lewis & Clark College.
