Michelle Penn-Marshall currently serves as the Vice President for Research and Innovation at Texas Southern University, a position held since March 2022. Previously, Michelle held various roles at Hampton University, including Vice President for Research, Associate Provost, and Dean of the Graduate College from 2007 to March 2022. Notable achievements include enhancing faculty research skills and facilitating the university's achievement of the Carnegie classification of Doctoral Universities: High Research Activity. Michelle began a career in academia at Virginia Tech, where roles included Assistant Professor and Director of Student Academic Support Services. Educational credentials include a Ph.D. in Community Nutrition from Virginia Tech and two master's degrees in Environmental Science/Biological Sciences and Biology from Hampton University.
