Bernard A. Harris Jr. was appointed to Vice Chairman of the Texas Medical Center Board of Directors. Dr. Harris has been a member of the TMC board since 2018. Dr. Harris is currently CEO and Managing Partner of Vesalius Ventures, Inc. a venture capital firm, that invest in early to mid-stage healthcare technologies and companies. He is also Founder of the Harris Foundation, a non-profit organization that supports math/science education and crime prevention programs for America’s youth. A former Astronaut for NASA, Dr. Harris has traveled over 7.2 million miles in space and was named the first African American to walk in space 1995.
