James Hayes, senior vice president of global government affairs for Tenable, is a recognized government affairs executive with 20 years of public and private sector experience. In his role at Tenable, James has made it his mission to educate policymakers and government agency leaders about programs and policies that enable public and private sectors to better understand their cyber exposure and reduce cybersecurity risk. James previously served as Vice President of Global Government Affairs for EMC Corporation, a Fortune 150 global information technology company. He also served as Director of Homeland Security at Motorola. Known as a thought leader in cybersecurity policy, James has been recognized as a top lobbyist by “The Hill,” a Washington insider news outlet. James was also a Cyber Scoop 50 industry awards winner in 2022. He holds a Juris Doctor from American University Washington College of Law and a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Alaska.
