Laurence Cheung

Co-head, Leukaemia Translational Research at Telethon Kids Institute

Laurence Cheung has extensive work experience in the field of research and pharmacy. Laurence started their career at Bell's Drive In Pharmacy in 2002, where they worked as a Pharmacy Manager for a decade. In 2012, they joined Greg's Discount Pharmacy North Perth as a Pharmacist and worked there until 2017. During this time, they also worked as a Clinical Trial Governance Pharmacist at Perth Children's Hospital.

In 2014, Laurence transitioned into research and joined the Telethon Kids Institute as a Research Officer. Laurence held various roles in the institute, including Senior Research Officer and Senior Research Fellow. In 2021, Laurence became the Co-head of Leukaemia Translational Research at the Telethon Kids Institute.

In addition to their research career, Laurence also has teaching experience. Laurence started as a sessional academic at Curtin University in 2009 and later became a Lecturer in 2017. In 2019, they were promoted to the position of Senior Lecturer.

Laurence Cheung completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Childhood leukaemia and blood cell development from The University of Western Australia between 2009 and 2014. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Curtin University from 2007 to 2008. Laurence Cheung also holds a Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy (B.Pharm (Hons)) from Curtin University, which they completed from 1998 to 2000.
