Howard Permut has had a distinguished career in public transit, serving as President of MTA Metro North Railroad from 1979 to 2014, where they managed major challenges and led significant operational improvements, doubling ridership and enhancing customer services. They were instrumental in redeveloping Grand Central Terminal into a cultural landmark and have since shared their expertise in strategic planning and change management with various boards and organizations across the U.S. and Canada. Currently, Permut holds several advisory roles, including Senior Advisor for Broward County Government and Board Chairman at Teatown Lake Reservation. They earned a Master’s degree in Transportation from Northwestern University and a Bachelor’s degree in Geography from Binghamton University.
