Leigh Avera is an experienced educator with a diverse background in teaching and leadership roles. Currently serving as a Leadership Program Instructor at Teamshares since September 2022, Avera previously worked as a Fulbright English Teaching Assistant in Poland, focusing on English conversation classes and supporting Ukrainian refugees. Avera's teaching experience includes roles as a high school Math and Social Studies teacher in the Dallas Independent School District, as well as a DP Math SL Teacher and Math Content Lead at Uplift Education, where curriculum development and professional development for teachers were key responsibilities. Additionally, Avera has mentored urban teaching residents through Urban Teachers and contributed to the Vanderbilt Office of Undergraduate Admissions as a student intern. Avera holds a Bachelor's Degree in Economics and History from Vanderbilt University, a Master of Education in STEM Education from Southern Methodist University, and completed the Hollyhock Fellowship Program at Stanford University Graduate School of Education.
