Sir Hugh was appointed as Chair of the British Olympic Association in November 2016. He presided over the London 2012 Olympic Games as Minister for Sport and the Olympics from 2010-13, having previously occupied the same post as Shadow Minister from 2004. He was subsequently the Minister of State at The Foreign Office responsible for The Middle East, North Africa and Counter Terrorism. Hugh stood down as an MP at the 2015 General Election and now Chairs Camelot, the operator of the National Lottery, and the Racing Authority. Earlier in his career Sir Hugh worked for seven years at Schroder Investment Management and served in the British Army, seeing active service in Northern Ireland, Cyprus, The Gulf War and Bosnia. He is also currently the Chair of the Canterbury Cathedral Appeal and a Trustee of the Chelsea FC Community Fund.
