John Vargas is the Dunlevie Family Director of Men’s Water Polo at Stanford University. He has led the team to the NCAA championship game five times. During his tenure at Stanford, Coach Vargas coached two national Players of the Year, 73 All-American, and several of his former players represented the U.S. as part of the 2008, 2012, and 2016 Olympic teams. He spent 10 years playing with the U.S. National Team, including the 1992 Barcelona Games, where he helped the U.S. to a fourth-place finish. Coach Vargas served on the national team coaching staff from 1993-96 and coached the Senior National Team from 1997 through the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
