Richard Hontelez has a diverse work experience in various industries and roles. Richard started their career as an intern at K+S KALI GmbH, gaining underground experience regarding mine development and equipment. Richard then worked as a student assistant at TU Delft before joining Mijnbouwkundige Vereeniging as a board member. Richard interned at Nyrstar, where they optimized the roasting process through physical research. Richard then had an internship at Randgold Resources, where they conducted a pre-feasibility study on open pit mining. Following this, they worked as a graduate student and later as a mining engineer at SRK Consulting, specializing in scoping studies and underground mining projects. Richard joined Nordgold as a mining engineer before joining Tata Steel as a lead project engineer, where they were responsible for gas cleaning installations within Blast Furnace revamp projects.
Richard Hontelez is an individual with an extensive education history in the field of engineering. Richard completed their Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) degree in Applied Earth Sciences from Delft University of Technology between the years 2006 and 2011. Later, they pursued a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Mining Engineering from the same institution and successfully completed it from 2012 to 2014.
Additionally, Richard has obtained several certifications to enhance their professional skills and knowledge. In 2017, they earned the VCA VOL - Safety for Operational Managers certification from VCA. Continuing their professional development, in 2019 they obtained a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from the University of Twente. Richard further expanded their expertise by completing the Management of Engineering Projects certification course offered by Technische Universiteit Delft in 2021. Finally, in 2022, they obtained the IPMA D Project Management Certificate from the International Project Management Association (IPMA).
