Eugene Lee has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Eugene started their career as an Associate at Morgan Stanley from 1998 to 2005. Eugene then worked as the Chief of Staff & Senior Advisor at the Bureau of Industry and Security-U.S. Department of Commerce from 2006 to 2009. Following that, they served as a Senior Policy Advisor in the Office of the Mayor of New York City from 2010 to 2014. Eugene then transitioned to the private sector and led business development and strategic partnerships at Knewton from 2014 to 2016. Eugene later became the Chief Operating Officer at Knotel, a flexible workspace startup, from 2016 to 2021. Eugene played a key role in its growth and eventual acquisition by Newmark. In 2022, Eugene served as the Chief Operating Officer at Butler Hospitality, where they successfully revamped the go-to-market strategy and implemented management frameworks. Currently, they hold the position of SVP, Operations at Synonym, a venture-backed biomanufacturing startup.
Eugene Lee earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) with specializations in Entrepreneurship, Strategy, and Finance from NYU Stern between 2004 and 2006 while working full time. Eugene also holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Economics and Government from Cornell University, which they obtained from 1994 to 1998.
