Ana Valcarcel Orti PhD

Head of the Scientific Partnerships and Legal Office at SYNCHROTRON SOLEIL

Ana Valcarcel Orti PhD has extensive work experience in various scientific and research-related roles. Ana is currently serving as the Head of the Scientific Partnerships and Legal Office at Synchrotron SOLEIL since April 2021. Prior to this, they worked at Inria as part of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence (GPAI) - Paris Centre of Expertise from January 2021 to April 2021, and also contributed to the National Artificial Intelligence Research Programme from February 2019 to April 2021.

From September 2016 to January 2019, Ana Valcarcel Orti worked as the Manager of the Medico-Scientific Programme at Institut Curie. Before that, they held the position of Project Manager at Lyon Ingenierie Projets, a subsidiary of Claude Bernard Lyon 1 University, from November 2012 to July 2016.

Ana Valcarcel Orti started their professional journey as a Consultant at Alma Consulting Group from 2007 to 2012, where they managed European projects, set up funded projects, developed internal collaborative platforms, and trained staff members.

Ana also gained valuable research experience as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Institut de Recherches sur la Catalyse et l'Environnement de Lyon (IRCELYON, UMR5256) in 2006 and as a Research Associate at Fundacio Rovira i Virgili in 2005.

Furthermore, Ana Valcarcel Orti worked as a Teaching Assistant at Universitat Rovira i Virgili from 2001 to 2004.

Throughout their career, Ana Valcarcel Orti's work has been characterized by their expertise in scientific partnerships, artificial intelligence research, medico-scientific management, project coordination, and consultancy in EU-funded projects.

Ana Valcarcel Orti received their Llicenciatura en Quimica, a Master's Degree in Chemistry, from Universitat Rovira i Virgili in the years 1996 to 2000. Ana then went on to pursue a PhD in Computational Chemistry at the same institution from 2000 to 2005. Ana'sPhD thesis focused on the field of "Modelling unsaturated hydrocarbons on metals: towards understanding catalytic processes".
