Elena Sharkova has an extensive background in music, serving as Chorus Master and Music Director/Conductor of Symphony San Jose since August 1998. In addition, Elena holds the position of Artistic Director and Conductor for both Symphony Silicon Valley and Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley since 1998, and previously directed Cantabile Youth Singers of Silicon Valley from July 2004 to January 2024. Elena was also a Music Professor and Director of Choral Studies at San Jose State University from 1998 to June 2006, alongside a part-time faculty role at Western Michigan University from 1995 to 1998. An accomplished soprano, Elena sang with the Lege Artis Chamber Choir in St. Petersburg, Russia, from 1988 to 1993. Educational qualifications include a Graduate/Post Graduate degree in Conducting from Saint Petersburg State Conservatory and a Master's of Music in Conducting from Western Michigan University.
