James Lai is a seasoned professional in government affairs, currently serving as Senior Advisor for North American Government Affairs at Syensqo since June 2024. Prior to this role, Lai held the position of Director at The Vogel Group from February 2022 to June 2024 and served as Director of Energy and Trade at Lot Sixteen from September 2019 to February 2022, where duties included government relations. Experience includes time as a Staff Assistant for the Energy and Natural Resources Committee in the United States Senate and a Legislative Intern for Senator Maria Cantwell. Lai began a career in public service as a Research Assistant at Franklin & Marshall College and held various internships, including with Atlas Corps, the Fellowship of Reconciliation, and the Naval History & Heritage Command. Lai earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in History and International Studies from Franklin & Marshall College, supplemented by studies in the European Society and Culture Program through IES Abroad.
