Ian joined the Sydney Children’s Hospitals Network Board in January 2023. With legal firm Allens for almost 40 years, including as a partner, Ian specialised in corporate and regulatory law in the media and telecommunications industries.

Since his retirement from Allens, Ian has focused his time on non-executive director roles in the ‘for-purpose sector’, including with Documentary Australia, the Australian Children’s Television Foundation, the Sydney Institute of Marine Science, the Sydney Institute of Marine Science Foundation, and Uphold & Recognise Limited (focused on securing a constitutionally enshrined Voice to Parliament).

Ian offers his expert legal and governance advice through his Board roles as well as through membership of the advisory board of the Centre for Media Transition at the University of Technology, Sydney. He also provides pro bono mentoring for executives in the not-for-profit sector.

Ian has tertiary qualifications in marine science and law, is a professional fellow of the Law School of the University of Technology, Sydney, and a member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
