Júlia Rodríguez Comas

Júlia Rodríguez Comas has a diverse work experience in the field of biomedical research. Júlia is currently serving as the Chief Scientific Officer and co-founder at Sycai Medical since August 2020. Prior to this role, they worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Institute for Bioengineering of Catalonia (IBEC) from September 2019 to August 2021, where their research focused on biosensors for bioengineering and the study of type 2 diabetes. Júlia also has experience as a PhD Candidate in the Diabetes and Obesity Research Laboratory at the Institut d’Investigacions Biomèdiques August Pi i Sunyer (IDIBAPS), where they investigated the mechanisms of β-cell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes from November 2014 to August 2019. Additionally, they gained teaching experience as a guest teacher at URJC online, where they taught in the Master's program in Environmental Toxicology and Risk Assessment from January 2016 to January 2018. Júlia began their research career as an MS student at the Department of Physiology and Immunology at the Universitat de Barcelona from January 2012 to September 2012, where they studied the effects of adiponectin, TNFα, and insulin on gene expression in adipocytes.

Júlia Rodríguez Comas has a diverse education history. In 2011-2012, they pursued a Master's degree in Integrative Physiology at Universitat de Barcelona. Following that, from 2014-2016, they obtained a Masters' degree in Teaching in Secondary Schools with a specialty in Natural Science from Universitat Pompeu Fabra. In 2012-2013, they attended Westminster Accademy for a full-time English course. Júlia also participated in the European Community Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students (Erasmus) in 2010-2011, at Université Henri Poincaré, Nancy 1, focusing on Sciences du Vivant. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's degree in Biology at Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona from 2006-2011, specializing in Biomedical Sciences.

Aside from their formal education, Júlia Rodríguez Comas has obtained several certifications. Júlia became an authorized user of animals for research purposes under the Department of Agriculture, Ranching, Fishing, Food, and Environment of the Catalan Government in 2012. In 2017, they participated as a guest teacher at the 24th EASD Young Scientists Training Course organized by the European Foundation for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and Lilly. Similarly, in 2016, they were a guest teacher at the III Curso de iniciación a la investigación en diabetes held by the SOCIEDAD ESPAÑOLA DE DIABETES. Júlia has also completed various online courses, including Diabetes: Diagnosis, Treatment, and Opportunities from UCSF in 2013, Diabetes, a Global Challenge from the University of Copenhagen in 2013, and Introductory Human Physiology from Duke University in 2013.
