Sherif Barakat has a diverse work experience spanning from 2005 to the present. In 2005, they were the Plant Manager for Textile Rubber & Chemical Co. (Canada). From 2010 to 2013, they were a Senior Associate for BPE Partners (Formerly Beltone Private Equity). From 2013 to 2020, they were a Debt and Equity Banker at EBRD's office in Casablanca, Morocco, and at EBRD's HQ in London. Currently, they are the Co-founder of Swaplanet.

Sherif Barakat attended McGill University from 1997 to 2003, graduating with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering. Sherif then attended Concordia University from 2006 to 2008, where they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) - Part-time. In 2008, they also attended ESSEC Business School, where they completed an exchange program for a Master of Business Administration (MBA).
