Karen Smith is an accomplished healthcare professional with extensive experience in perioperative education and regulatory compliance. Currently serving as the Director of Regulatory Compliance at the Surgical Specialty Center of Baton Rouge since June 2019, Karen has previously held roles as a Perioperative Educator and Operating Room Manager at Lake Surgery Center. Prior to this, positions included Operating Room Registered Nurse and Perioperative Educator at Baton Rouge General Medical Center and CVT Surgical Center, with earlier experience as an Emergency Room Registered Nurse. Karen holds a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and Sociology from Louisiana State University, a Master of Education in Marriage and Family Therapy/Counseling from Southeastern Louisiana University, and a Diploma of Nursing from Baton Rouge General Medical Center-School of Nursing.
