Anand Malpani is an accomplished data science professional with significant expertise in surgical data science and machine learning. Currently serving as the Data Science Manager and Lead Data Scientist at Surgical Science since November 2020, Anand leads initiatives to enhance surgical simulation-based training and education while building and managing a new data science team. Prior to this role, Anand was an Assistant Research Scientist at The Johns Hopkins University from February 2017 to October 2020, focusing on independent projects and providing research expertise in various domains including crowdsourcing and virtual reality. Anand's academic pedigree includes a PhD and Master of Science in Engineering in Computer Science from The Johns Hopkins University, as well as a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. Additional experience includes roles at Johns Hopkins University as a Graduate Research Assistant and as a Simulation Research Intern at Intuitive Surgical.
